Smart Market® software has been applied to evaluate a wide array of smart grid solutions, including the impact of demand response programs, PHEVs, renewable energy, hydro power operations, and energy storage on power plant and electric grid operations, electricity consumption, emissions, electricity prices, and company profits.

In early 2010, the Illinois' Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) and Korean Ministry of Knowledge Economy signed a formal agreement to jointly develop and deploy smart grid technologies and business models.
